Renee's Story

Renee moved to Kalgoorlie five years ago to begin her teaching career in ATAR Chemistry,  an opportunity she was eager to pursue straight out of university. What she didn’t expect was how quickly she would find her community and how rapidly her career would progress.

Today, Renee is the Head of Science at John Paul College, a role that allows her to make a real impact. She supports students, works closely with colleagues, and helps shape the learning experience — something she finds incredibly rewarding.

Outside the classroom, Renee enjoys the active, social lifestyle Kalgoorlie offers. Living in a unit complex with other teachers has created a built-in community, and she spends her time playing squash and netball, walking at Karlkurla Park, catching student games, and exploring Kalgoorlie’s coffee and dining scene. For Renee, the relaxed pace, close friendships and strong sense of belonging are what make Kalgoorlie feel like home.

“What I love most about Kal is the lifestyle. Everything’s close, friends are nearby, and the community genuinely rallies around you.”
