Pat and Jamie's Story

Pat and Jamie first came to Kalgoorlie during the mining boom, each seeking new opportunities. Pat moved from Victoria and Jamie from New Zealand. They met while driving dump trucks at the Super Pit and working on the Emergency Response Team, and what was meant to be a two-year stay has turned into fourteen years of building a life together in Kalgoorlie.

Today, Pat and Jamie own and operate Elliot Water Haulage, a thriving business that has grown from one truck to a fleet of seven in just over three years. With a team of local staff, they provide essential water cartage services to the region. Beyond business, Pat contributes his time to the local speedway, maintaining the track for a much-loved fixture on Kalgoorlie’s social calendar.

With two young children, Pat and Jamie value Kalgoorlie’s family-friendly lifestyle, where a strong sense of community, supportive networks, and year-round activities make it easy to thrive. As Pat says, “In Kalgoorlie you live to work, not work to live.” For Pat and Jamie, it’s the perfect place to raise a family, grow their business, and enjoy the rewards of a close-knit community.

"Kalgoorlie has such a strong sense of community. Even without family nearby, we’ve always felt supported, through sports, local groups, and just everyday life. People genuinely look out for each other here."
