Michelle and Clayton's Story

Michelle first came to Kalgoorlie at twenty-one, looking for direction and a fresh start. With family already working in the Goldfields, she soon found her place in the community, and over time, Kalgoorlie became home. Today, she and her partner Clayton have built both their life and a successful yard care business here.

Michelle and Clayton run Michelle’s Yard Care, providing lawn mowing, gardening, clean-ups and reticulation repairs for homes and businesses across Kalgoorlie-Boulder. After the mine he worked at closed, Clayton joined the business full-time, bringing his experience and work ethic to a new, more family-focused chapter. Working nine days in Kalgoorlie and five in Merredin allows him to stay closely connected with his daughters while growing the business alongside Michelle.

Outside of work, their family keeps active and makes the most of the local lifestyle. They enjoy gym sessions at Fitstop, walks around Rotary Peace Park and nearby paths, recovery sessions at the Oasis, and getting involved in community events across the Goldfields. At home, life is shared with their children, a rescue dog and a few chickens – a simple, grounded way of living they really value.

With friendly people, strong community spirit and opportunities you won’t find elsewhere, Michelle and Clayton believe Kalgoorlie is a place where you can build a business, raise your family and feel genuinely supported.

“If you’re looking for a place where you can build a business, raise your family, and be part of a supportive and growing community — that’s SoKal.”
