When Karlee and Bobby first moved to Kalgoorlie in 2021, it was a leap of faith during a time of uncertainty. With limited opportunities in Perth’s events and hospitality industry during COVID, they decided to make a fresh start and within days of arriving, both found work and a community that felt right.
Bobby began working as a crane operator, while Karlee studied full-time and worked casually at Celebration City, a business she would one day own. They tried moving back to Perth, but it no longer felt right and returned to Kalgoorlie in 2024, where they haven’t looked back since.
Today, Karlee runs three successful local businesses: Red Edge Events, Celebration City, and Kalgoorlie Weddings and Events. Each complements the other, bringing people together through beautifully planned celebrations, community events, and weddings. Bobby works locally at Norton Gold Fields, coming home each night to enjoy time with their children, Skylar and Fox.
Outside of work, the family loves bike rides around the Arboretum, weekends at The Piccadilly Hotel, and spending time at local parks. Skylar and Karlee share a special bond through dance, with Karlee teaching at the Kalgoorlie Dance Academy. They’re also active in the community, attending events, joining committees, and supporting local initiatives that make Kalgoorlie such a welcoming place to live.
Kalgoorlie has given Karlee and Bobby more than opportunity, it’s given them a lifestyle and community that feels like home.
For us, Kalgoorlie has given us so much - opportunities to build our careers, enjoy family life, and be part of a community that wants to see you succeed.
