For Jezaire and Edward, the Goldfields marked the beginning of a new chapter. Originally from New Zealand and first meeting in Esperance, they set their sights on Kalgoorlie in search of fresh opportunities, career progression and a sense of belonging.
Ed now works at the Super Pit as a dump truck operator for Northern Star, enjoying the rare advantage in mining of returning home every night. Jez is the Events Coordinator at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce, creating opportunities for the community to connect through local events.
Away from work, Jez and Ed spend time camping, exploring the region, and enjoying life with their two dogs, Harlow and Frankie. They relish the chance to dine out and socialise with friends, as well as discover new adventures throughout the Goldfields. For them, Kalgoorlie is more than just a place to work; it is where they have found friendships, created lasting memories, and built a true sense of home.
"Kalgoorlie’s got this incredible sense of community and it’s a fun place to be! Everyone is friendly and welcoming - it really does feel like home."
-- Ed
“We have grown so much as people since being here. Even though Kalgoorlie’s a regional town, there’s no shortage of things to do. We’ve built wonderful friendships and memories that will last a lifetime."
-- Jez
