Dr David moved to Kalgoorlie only a few months ago, relocating from the UK with his wife to begin the next stage of his medical training. Although new to Australia, they have already felt welcomed by the community and have quickly settled into their new life in the Goldfields.
David is a GP Registrar at Bega Garnbirringu Health Services, an Aboriginal Medical Service providing holistic care to the local Indigenous community. The opportunity to train with Bega was a major reason behind his move, and the work has been both meaningful and rewarding as he continues to develop his skills while supporting local families.
Outside of work, David and his wife enjoy quiet weekends, taking walks, spending time with colleagues and friends, and staying connected through their church communities in both Kalgoorlie and Perth. Their faith and the relationships they’ve formed have played a significant role in helping them feel at home.
What David appreciates most about Kalgoorlie is the ease of living — everything is close, travel is simple, and the pace is calmer than what they knew in the UK. It’s a place that offers real career opportunities alongside a balanced, welcoming lifestyle.
“For us, Kalgoorlie has been the best move we’ve made — real career opportunities, a balanced lifestyle, and a genuinely welcoming community. That’s SoKal.”
