What was meant to be a short two-year plan turned into a new life for Dirk and Francé in Kalgoorlie. Sixteen years after moving from South Africa, they continue to embrace the opportunity, community and lifestyle that Kalgoorlie has to offer.
Today, Dirk and Francé are the owners of Goldfields NDT, a long-standing local business providing non-destructive testing throughout the region. Their business has grown alongside Kalgoorlie, supported by a strong local community that champions business and the industries in the region that keep the town thriving.
Outside of work, the De Beer family make the most of everything Kalgoorlie offers. Their children are active in a wide range of local sports, arts, and school activities and weekends are spent exploring as a family – gold detecting in the bush or a getaway weekend to Esperance. At home, they love entertaining friends and sharing a traditional South African braai, a tradition that has become part of their life in Kal.
For Dirk and Francé, Kalgoorlie provides the perfect balance of opportunity and lifestyle. It’s a place where work is close, commutes are short, and family time comes first.
"Kalgoorlie really has everything you need without the rush of the city. The people, the culture, the sense of community - it’s what makes life here special.”
