Avril and his wife Audrey moved to Kalgoorlie nearly twenty years ago, seeking new opportunities and a better lifestyle for their family. Sponsored to come to Australia after moving from Johannesburg, Avril saw Kalgoorlie-Boulder as a fresh start, and it quickly became home.

Soon after arriving, he joined Specialised Engineering Services, where he has worked ever since. As Workshop Foreman, Avril leads a team he enjoys working with and has built strong relationships with clients and suppliers across the region. He has watched both the business and the local industry grow, proud to contribute to a company supporting the heart of WA’s mining sector.

The best part of Avril and Audrey’s life journey is that both their sons and family have move to Kalgoorlie and now their grandchildren are growing up in the Goldfields. Weekends are spent together as a family, out and about, or enjoying quality time at home.

What Avril values most is Kalgoorlie’s comfortable pace and strong sense of community.
