Tobacco Action Worker

Bega Garnbirringu Health Service (BGHS) is looking for a motivated and community-focused Tobacco Action Worker to support the delivery of a culturally appropriate smoking cessation program across the Goldfields region. In this role, you will assist community members by promoting, undertaking and supporting programs, activities and workshops that encourage quitting smoking. You will also contribute to developing and delivering community education and engagement initiatives about the impacts of tobacco use and the importance of healthy living.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated and applied understanding of smoking cessation principles and strategies.

  • Experience in developing, planning, implementing and evaluating smoking cessation programs.

  • Knowledge and understanding of cultural factors and social determinants, particularly in relation to Aboriginal health.

  • Current Working with Children Check.

  • National Criminal History Check Certificate (Police Clearance – valid within the last 3 months).

  • Ability to travel within the Goldfields community, including overnight stays.
